Slash Loves His Angry Bird

Slash & I were fortunate to travel back to the area I grew up over the Christmas holiday this past year. The area I’m referring to is in the midwest. Land of corn and soy fields, bluffs, bald eagles, whitetail deer, turkey, and morel mushrooms. Near the mighty Mississippi River.

We stay at granny’s house which Slash absolutely loves. It’s the perfect house for a cat including a loft overlooking the living area, a private finished basement for alone time, lots of rooms and nooks to explore, and a screened in porch with a swing. It’s surrounded by a wooded area with a creek so there’s lots of squirrels and other critters to watch.

There are no children, cats, or dogs so Slash feels like the king of her castle during his stay. We’ve spent many Christmas nights sitting in front of this fireplace chatting until the wee hours of the morning with Slash by our side. Wonderful times and great memories we’ll cherish forever. Not too shabby, eh? Granny has fun with decorating. She uses some of the same pieces year after year but always in different arrangements.

Each year for our arrival granny posts a message on her chalk board welcoming us for our stay. She’s pretty wonderful wouldn’t you agree? We always have the best time staying with her. She is very accommodating and makes sure we have everything we need including a litter box and a food and water dish for Slash.

This year she even had a present for Slash – an angry bird toy! Slash instantly loved it and enjoyed playing with it during his visit there. He was very pleased that someone remembered him. Cats like Christmas gifts too!

He plays the hardest with the angry bird outside…

He sleeps with it..

and holds on to it too!

Thanks again Granny! :)

  1. Awe! Grannys are the best! :) so sweet of her to get Slash a toy too. He’s such a handsome boy! I love how he holds his toy, so adorable. Great pictures CP. By the way, we have 5 things in common out of the 8 you mentioned on the other post. :)

    • Thanks for your sweet comment. :) Slash really loves it! The 14 hour trip getting there though, not so much but he deals with it and is better at traveling these days. Have a nice weekend over there!

  2. I think cats love Christmas. Something about forests and a memory of times past. We used to have a cat who would hide in the depths of our tree – often we wouldn’t see the ornaments first, but her bright eyes shining through the branches.

    • Thanks Anita! So glad you stopped by! I’ve never played it before either and don’t know much about it really. My phone is not so smart and I don’t have an ipad unfortunately. Thanks, granny would appreciate that! :)

    • Thanks for noticing Savannah! You could learn to travel too. Slash was very scared in the beginning too and vomited a lot. He’s a veteran now though and travels without throwing up or meowing a lot. He practiced a lot and is quite a trooper.

If you don’t have to travel though consider yourself lucky to stay in your comfortable safe environment. Cheers Savannah Bananna! :) We love you.

      • oh…blushes!…and purrrs…for your kind words. And no, I don’t have to travel. Mom and Dad have Auntie Shannon stay with me if they go away…she sleeps over and plays with me and stuff. Slash is lucky to have such a cool place to go to for Xmas!

    • Thanks you Wesley! So glad you stopped by. It’s a great place to stay. Slash loves it and feels really comfortable there. Unfortunately she is currently trying to sell the house but I’m sure the next one will be just as nice. :)
